LANDSCAPE PROJECTS

My landscape work spans the UAE and India. This page features two of them: Shatranj, a chess-inspired landscape in the UAE, explored bold geometry alongside a compacting technique that allowed outdoor tiles to be installed without cement, helping preserve the underlying soil quality. For a multiplex landscape in Gujarat, the focus shifted to a softer, ecological approach, using native perennial planting to shape distinct green pockets across the property, with the landscape designed to grow richer and more established over time.

Multiplex-CINEMA landscape

As Principal and Founder of Aurora Atelier, I worked on this multiplex landscape in Gujarat, transforming the open grounds into layered green pockets. The planting strategy focused on native and perennial species, allowing the landscape to mature naturally over time while remaining resilient to the local climate. Curved planting beds, varied foliage, and carefully positioned shrubs and trees helped create visual movement across the site while softening the surrounding built environment.

Shatranj (Chess) landscape

Shatranj was a chess-inspired landscape project in the UAE, where the geometry of the chessboard shaped the layout and character of the outdoor space. The design used an innovative soil-compacting technique to secure the tiled areas without cement, helping preserve the quality of the soil beneath while allowing the landscape to remain adaptable. The result brought together bold geometry, greenery, and a playful design concept suited to the region’s climate.

LITTLE INDIA PARK

In Oman's Little India community, I worked on the community park's design and the detailed designs for its Majlis, which would be spread throughout the park for families to gather and enjoy.

(Arabic: مجلس, meaning “a place of sitting") is a traditional gathering space rooted in Arab and Islamic culture, designed for hospitality, conversation, and connection. It reflects cultural values of community, generosity, and togetherness; it is usually an inward-looking, shaded space that also responds to the climate.

The park gradually sloped down to the beach and included a football ground, steps, play mounds, barbecue grills, cycling and running tracks and more.
