Marriage of statuario

Is that marble? No, it’s not.
This interior design approach was rooted in material innovation. We used full-body tiles that look like marble, perform like granite, and cost roughly a third of natural marble. The rest of the home was designed to feel light and airy, with playful pops of colour adding character throughout.
 
The project later appeared in the Top 30 of the 2023 Chief Style Officer Contest, a national interior design competition.

JUMEIRAH MIRAGE

This Dubai rental was initially designed as an Airbnb, with warm contemporary interiors, sculptural furniture, and memorable details intended to give the property its own identity. The finished home ultimately attracted a long-term tenant and secured a rental rate slightly higher than previous listings in the condominium building.
 
As Principal Interior Designer at my firm, I was involved throughout the project, from design development and cost estimation to client and vendor coordination, logistics, and construction management. Bringing the project to life, however, was a collaborative effort, and I was fortunate to work alongside a talented team in Dubai that played an important role in its successful delivery.

PALM AND PATINA

Part of a 5,000 sq. ft. Mumbai home overlooking the sea, this bathroom became a chance to play with design. Bold tropical patterns, checkerboard flooring and deep tones are balanced by warm brass details and a glowing onyx vanity, creating a space with its own distinct character within the larger home.

Spaces Contest - a Fabric story​

Aurora Atelier, the firm I founded, was selected among India's Top 30 Interior Designers in Round 1 of the Spaces: Chief Style Officer competition, 2023, for our project, Marriage in Statuario. For Round 2, we were given a budget to design a space showcasing the brand's fabrics, and I submitted this interior as my entry. The design reached the Top 5, based on a combined score of public votes and rankings from the celebrity judging panel.

MAXIMMUM HOUSE 

I led this unique turnkey project with one key challenge: transforming a compact double-height room into a self-sufficient, multifunctional living space. We introduced a custom mezzanine to create a dedicated workspace above and integrated a compact bathroom, complete with new plumbing and more.

Sustainability was woven into the design through creative reuse. Old doors became a full-length mirror, vintage silk sarees were repurposed as curtains, and coconut shells found new life as hanging planters. The result was a highly functional space shaped by resourceful, thoughtful design.

BURGUNDY BLOOM

This project was defined by rich finishes, striking contrasts, and highly considered functionality. The client gravitated towards deep tones and glossy surfaces, while every inch of the compact kitchen needed to work hard. Cleverly integrated within the cabinetry are water filtration units, rotating corner fittings, and specialised drawer systems imported from Germany, allowing functionality to remain discreet within the overall design.
